1960 Fender Bassman
Pictured here is an (almost) all-original 1960 5F6-A Fender Bassman-Amp, an amplifier many consider to be the zenith of guitar amplification. While that is difficult to dispute, the originality of the covering certainly is. It appears to have been applied very early in the Bassman's life as witnessed by the material itself and the use of hide glue. The black and white lined Tolex-like material is reminiscent of early Valco/Gretsch covering. The current owner of the Bassman requested a return to the original cosmetics and a little bit of added age to identify this Bassman as the genuine article. In addition, the requisite electrolytic capacitor replacement, ground power cable, cleaning of tube sockets gives this amazing piece of history a new life. Please enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed our time with one of Leo's greatest achievements.
